Our Mackinaw Wool Vest, universally trusted by ranchers, loggers and all manner of sportsmen, has proven itself to be as versatile, functional and practical as any product we’ve ever manufactured. This vest's all-conditions performance has made it cornerstone in the Filson product line for more than fifty years.
This classic wool vest provides warmth with excellent breathability, even when wet. Worn over a warm shirt while active, it’s the perfect blend of warmth and breathability in temperatures down to near freezing. Worn under a rain shell, it takes the edge off when wading thigh-deep in an icy steelhead run. Under a Filson wool coat, it adds that extra bit of comfort in temperatures that can take your breath away.
The Mackinaw Wool Vest is our iconic wool that's provided protection from cold and wet conditions for over a century. Because our Mackinaw Wool is manufactured with an uncommonly tight weave, it excels at blocking the wind and withstands hard use for decades. Mackinaw Wool is also very simple to care for. Dried dirt brushes off with ease, leaving no trace of its existence. To remove odors, a dry Mackinaw Wool Vest can simply be tumbled in a warm dryer.
The design of the Mackinaw Wool Vest works just as well indoors, whether drawing up plans for your next big project or working in a chilly warehouse. The V-shaped neckline adds no bulk around the neck, so there’s still plenty of breathing room for a heavy shirt and a rain shell zipped chin-high. The front features open and slotted chest pockets plus side-entry hand pockets.

Returns
If you need to return an item that you have purchased online, you can return the item at any of our locations in-person.
- If you would like to return the item online, simply visit the order page through your account or by clicking view order on the confirmation email
- Items for return must be unworn and still have the tags attached
- Once we receive your returned item our team will look over the item and make sure it clears inspection and a refund will be processed within a week of receiving it. Refunds take 5-10 business days to appear back onto your original form of payment.
- Return labels will be provided for a flat rate of $15 off of your return
Exchanges
If you would like to exchange an item that you have purchased online, you can exchange the item at any of our locations in-person.
- So if you would like to exchange an item please reach out to our customer service email to request the item you would like.
- The customer service team will create an exchange for you to begin the return of the original item
- Once the team receives the return the exchange item will be shipped.
- Return labels will be provided for a flat rate of $15

Can I make changes to my order after it’s been placed?
We do everything we can to fulfill orders quickly and unfortunately cannot make updates after an order has been placed. These changes include removing or adding products and/or changing the delivery address. If a mistake has been made with your order information, it’s quickest to create a new order with the correct information and then let our Customer Service.
